text to world~ A Dog's Purpose

I am reading the book A dog's purpose  by W. Bruce Cameron. A connection to the world would be when you see a dog, stray or domestic they are here for a reason. If you see a stray go over and take it in, get it fixed and raise it as your own. If you cant take in another dog simple capture the animal and take it to the vet, get it fixed make sure its OK,but do anything to help because they are here for a reason. If you see a domesticated dog, like a service/therapy/esa dog know they are here for a reason and don't try to bug them or treat them like they are not wanted or they are useless. This connects to the world because we don't treat animals like we used to a bunch of people think its OK to treat them badly and abuse them. People need to be nicer and care knowing they are here for a reason and that reason could be they are here for you! Even if its a stray or you do not know the dog. When a human looks at a dog they release a chemical that automatically connects the both...

Text to World- Holes

I am reading Holes  by Louis Sachar. The story I am reading is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. This boy was convicted for a crime he supposedly did not do; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The crime was "stealing" shoes from a baseball player, and he was going to donate his shoes. Stanley said they just landed on his head one day while going home. Therefore, no one believed his story at court, so they gave him the choice of jail or "Camp Green Lake". This camp was for bad boys that needed to recover from their actions. All of these children have to dig a hole that is 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide.      The conflict in this story relates to history and today because many kids/adults are punished for a crime they never actually committed. Some people suffer everyday, when he/she knows they're innocent people. Although, others do grasp on to bad behavior and break crucial rules. Therefore, this is why some people are given these op...
Laugh Out Loud  by James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein. It is about a kid named Jimmy who really loves to read and decided he would create a book publisher ran by kids for kids. He go the idea because his friend can't leave her house so he brigs her books from the library, so he thought their should be a publisher were kids like her can go a get books. Every kid in the school loves the idea but adults on the other hand. Every adult laughs at the idea of a kid creating a book publisher. Jimmy is trying so hard to make his dream a reality and people are saying it is impossible. I am really looking forward to see if he makes his dream a reality in the rest of the book.          How my book Laugh Out Loud  is similar to events in the world is how Cory Nevis. Cory Nevis created Mr. Cory's Cookies as a kid. Mr. Cory's Cookies is a website that Cory created at age six because he didn't want to take the bus, he wanted a car. He started...

Text to World-The Great Wall of Lucy Wu

The Great Wall of Lucy Wu by Wendy Wan-Long Shang is about a girl, Lucy, who's great aunt comes to visit from China and is stay with them until Christmas. Her sister, Regina, is leaving for college and Lucy is finally going to have the room all to herself. Then, her parents break the news to her that her Yi Po was coming to visit, so she has to share it with her aunt. She was really upset and didn't like Yi Po, but as the story goes on and she slowly starts to like Yi Po.      Lucy reminds me of myself, because sometimes relatives I haven't meet come to visit my family. It takes me a while to get used to them as it took Lucy sometime to get used to Yi Po. The story tells the readers that Yi Po was in the middle of a war when her family left her behind and that's apart of history.      I dislike the name Regina because it sounds sophisticated and weird. The story teaches don't judge a book by it's cover. I like this story it shows t...

Text To World -- The Fault in Our Stars

I am reading  The Fault in Our Stars  by John Green. This book is about two teenagers with cancer that happen to fall in love and go places together to live life to their fullest ability, while still accepting the fact that they are dying, in the end something is lost. What do you think this is? They meet at a support group in "the real heart of Jesus" Hazel and Augustus both read and they love this book called An Imperial Infliction.  They go to  Amsterdam together and meet the author of their book and he turns out to be very rude.  When they get back something is lost and is very sad. Hazel and Issac are looking for something left behind and go on a tiny adventure.       This book connects to the world in a lot of ways but the one that stood out the most to me, is that the world and the book share one very big problem, disease and cancer. Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters both have cancer and Issac and other people have illness and h...

Text to World - Jeremy Fink and the meaning of life

I'm still currently reading the book Jeremy Fink and the meaning of life by Wendy Mass. Jeremy is still currently on a mission to find the missing keys to the box his dad had made for him. Jeremy mission is about to come to an end. His birthday is just right around the corner and he is no longer doing community service. When it was Jeremy and Lizzy last day at their job Mr.Oswald let them choose a thing out of collection Jeremy choose a suitcase that had a bunch of buttons, keys and all these  crafty things. Jeremy knew he could not give up on trying different keys so he went home and tried all of them.         Jeremy has to find four keys to open his box and this relates back in history because when the name off some of the keys Jeremy has found they describe them.  They describe them as long and narrow and a big hoop at the end and the keys we use today are not like that. So back in the day people used different k...

Text to World: Disney After Dark

I am reading the book  Disney After Dark  by Ridley Pearson. This book is about five teenagers who get jobs as DHI, which means Disney Host Interactions, and Daylight Hologram Imaging. It seems like a normal job until at night, Finn has a dream where he is in the Magic Kingdom, and he meets this old Imagineer. The Imagineer tells Finn that the Magic Kingdom is in danger of the Overtakers, and only Finn and the other DHI can stop them. Eventually, the DHI's all come to the park at night, and they find out the truth and secrets of Walt Disney World. Soon, they will have to go look for clues around the park to find a way to destroy the Overtakers.      In Disney After Dark, it takes place in Walt Disney World.  Well, Walt Disney World is a real place, and so are the rides.  In the book, the DHI's are holograms made to look like the characters.  WDW they use holograms on the rides, and for shows. Also, people can already go ...

Text to World - Wonder

Wonder , by R.J. Palacio, is a story about a fifth grader named August. August (a.k.a. Auggie) has a face deformity that makes him look out of the ordinary. His parents decide to enroll Auggie into a private school because they feel that he needs to learn more than what his mom can teach him. At school, Auggie makes friends, but he also makes enemies. Auggie also teaches people to not judge what they can't see.         In the story, the main character has a face deformity and a lot of kids in the current world today have face deformities or any other genetic mutations. Makayla Hainline has Treacher Collins syndrome just like Auggie. Makayla is like any other kid, but a lot of people don't see that. This may not be a world issue, but I think misjudgment kind of affects a lot of people in a way because people decide that they don't want to see what's on the inside, but what's on the outside.      While reading Wonder , I st...

Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters

I am reading Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monster s by Rick Riordan . Percy and Annabeth have to save the camp and Percy's friend Grover. Grover is a Satyr, a half goat- half man. Grover was trying to capture the golden fleece so he can save the camp. The golden fleece can restore any living or non-living beings power. Tantalus (the head of the camp) gives Clarisse permission to go on a quest. Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson go  anyways. They run through various problems trying to get to Polyphemus's island. They eventually get to the island and retrieve the fleece also killing Polyphemus.                       Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters can connect to how Puerto Rico is using balloons to restore their cell service. These articles can connect In the Sea of Monsters, they are using the Golden Fleece to restore the barrier to keep out monsters f...

Small Steps

Small Steps was written by Louis Sachar, it is a realistic fiction book that is very like real life. It is basically in the series of Holes, the second book. Her dad left her and her mom because Ginny had something wrong with her brain.  Ginny and Arm Pit takes small steps together.      Small Steps is really interesting and really real situation. There is racist cops trying to arrest Arm Pit for something he didn't do. In the real world people are accused/judged by their skin color or race. Also people in the world have to go to therapy to help prevent something. This whole book can connect to the real...

Text to World: By Amelia Thoele, The Giver

I am reading the book The Giver   by Lois Lowry. The Giver is about a community and they all have jobs or groups that are given to them by the elders. The elders are these older people who observe you and choose a job for you based on what they've seen throughout the years. You get a job assigned to you when you become a twelve. People are put into groups based on how old they are like there is. Jonas, the main character, is curious on what his assignment is going to be until finally the day of the ceremony comes. After Fiona goes and it's finally his turn... they skip his number. They went from 18 to 20. He sat there dazed, he couldn't believe what was happening, how disappointed his parents must be, how humiliated he was. Refugee - Text to World

Have you ever though about what it was like to be someone who lived in Cuba in 1990's, or Germany during WWII, or Syria in 2015? All of these times have been tough for Isabel, Josef, and Mahmoud. Refugee was written by Alan Gratz. It's about three people, Isabel, Josef, and Mahmoud, they all have issues with their time period. Each chapter is about a different character. Isabel, who has fled Cuba to go to "The States," finds a difficult course ahead of her before reaching them. Josef, who once lived in Germany, is a Jew. His father was sent to a concentration camp, but was later released to leave the country. They were on a ship for 40 days until they reached France. Although, they were originally going to go to Cuba, where Josef's father attempted suicide and had to stay. In the end, Josef's mother had to choose which child would go to a concentration camp. Since she couldn't choose, Josef chose for her. He later died to save his little sister, Ruthie. Fi...

Text to World-Pie

Pie by Sarah Weeks. This book is about a girl (Alice) who has an aunt that owns a famous pie shop, but sadly passes away. Everyone wants the aunts pie crust recipe, but she left it with her cat. When Alice goes into her aunts pie shop, she finds that it had been broken into. Everything in the pie shop was destroyed, but nothing was stolen except the pie crust recipe. She had told her parents, but her parents wanted the recipe themselves so they didn't care. Alice and her friend, Charlie, had went on a mission to find out who had stolen the famous pie crust recipe.      All these characters remind me of some of my friends because whenever something in the world doesn't feel right they are always they first ones to come up with reasons why something had happened or what had happened. That reminds me of the book because Alice and her friend are on the case to find out what had happened to her aunts pie recipe.      If I were in this situa...

Text to World- Lost in Hollywood

I am reading a book called Lost in Hollywood by Cindy Callaghan and it is about a girl named Ginger and her best friend Payton and how they go to Hollywood to see Ginger's aunt. Ginger's aunt was a famous actress but then her career ended. Her aunt lives in a huge house with expensive things but she is broke so she has only a couple of weeks to get money before she loses her home. Ginger's aunt tells her and Payton that she hid all her money and awards somewhere but forgot where she put them. The two girls go on a hunt all around Hollywood to find the money.           This books connects to the world because in both someone or something was lost. In the book, Ginger's aunt lost her awards and money and can't find it. In the article "In Search of the Lost Empire of the Maya" and it is about how the Empire became lost. In both something is lost and hard to be found.      I can't believe that Ginger's aunt hid money and forgo...

So the next months are of Mare in a "cell", and when I say "cell" I really mean: not a prison but an actual room with silent stone(silent stone makes abilities go away), a bed, table, chair, and bathroom which she has limited time in. Mare gets fed a specific time of day, and always is watched by people that take away your abilities. Now King Maven has extra protection at ALL costs. Knucklehead by Jon Scieszka

The book I'm reading is Knucklehead by Jon Scieszka . This book is about Jon Scieszka in his childhood. The book is about Jon, Jim, Tom, Gregg, Brian, Jeff, Shirly, and Louis Scieszka. The six brothers although biological, always fight against each other (sometimes together and other times free for all). At one point, Jon and Jim thought the heater in their room was like a fire. But they thought that it would go out like their father taught them to put out fires! Pee on it, yeah that didn't work out to well. I reconnect the text to world by siblings whom fight a lot. Sibling rivalry often happens before the younger child is born, it is because most attention leaves the older sibling and new toys mostly go to the baby. Other times when siblings are around the same age, they tend to fight about competition or even jealousy. Sometimes kids should just remember their talents that their other sibling doesn't have and forget what they're doing better than you. Finally, don...

In the meantime, Prince Kai's father is suffering form this incurable disease and hopes the doctor will find a cure, and fast.       In the book Cinder there is an incurable sickness going around the city. In the real world there was an incurable disease called the plague.  It had killed many people in Europe and the sickness in Cinder had killed many people in their city. The plague was contagious and spread throughout Eur...

Text to World Knucklehead

Have you ever fought with your siblings about something, well I have and this book is all about the six brothers fighting. Knucklehead, by Jon Scieszka, is a story about six brothers who fight all the time. They live in Flint, Michigan with their mom and dad. Their all always fight and love each other. All of them go to a Catholic school but don´t like going to school they wish they could just stay home and play around.      All of the brothers remind me of my brother and I because we always fight with each other but get a long most of the time and still love each other just like all the brothers in the story.  A similar event in the book is that all the brothers like to play baseball and so do my brother and I. Also in the book the brother´s like to play baseball and my brother and my favorite sport is baseball and we always play together.  A problem in this story to a current event is that the family has a lot of kids and in other family...

text to world, Small as an elephant.

The book I am reading is, Small as an elephant , by Jennifer Richard Jacobson. This book is kinda like a mystery. Jack has to try and find his mother before the time is up, and he takes a small plastic elephant with him. I think that's where they get the idea of the title from. He is also trying to take care of himself while finding his mom. So what will he do, will he find her before the time is up?   Jack is wasting daylight time to try and find his mother. " His idea was to make the best use of daylight hours." " He thought of it  when he woke up extra early one morning." This relates because, Jack had many ideas of where he wanted to go to search for his mother in the amount of time he had. The other one also relates because he would sometimes wake up extra early to try and find his mother.  But Jack didn't want to tell anyone just like people don't like to change their clocks one hour ahead in the winter time.    https://newsela.com/read/lib-...

When she was by herself she did the usual. Robbie's stomach was empty and she decided to go to a fast food place across the street from her apartment. All went good soon as a man walked up to her. "Lucy!" "Lucy!"he screamed. Robbie thought she was in no harm because her name wasn't Lucy but people would do anything to kidnap. Text to World- The Hunger Games

I am reading The Hunger Games  by Suzanne Collins. What I have read so far, is Katniss from District 12 volunteers as tribute to the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a punishment, where annually, one girl and one boy get chosen from each district, there are 12 districts. The tributes then fight to the death until there is one survivor. Katniss and Peeta, the boy from District 12, are taken to the Capitol, and given a short, luxurious life. People are very fond of Katniss, because she is pretty, stubborn, and has a temper. They call her, 'The Girl on Fire', because at the opening ceremonies, for once, District 12 had all the attention when fire was on Katniss and Peeta. Then, they started training, and they were forced to act like friends even though the other districts didn't. After Katniss gets angry and shoots an arrow at the Gamemakers, she is given an 11 out of a 1-12 scale. 12 being the best, and being sure to get sponsored. And that was where I stopped r...

I'm reading The Third Twin   by Cj Omololu  where they couldn't find out who did the murders. For what I have been reading so far the mystery killer keeps killing more boys. Lexi and Ava start finding clues to who is making the murders. Although they find out they have another twin so they are actually triplets. After that they put all the clues together and know who did it. It wasn't any of the triplets though, and you won't believe who it was. The big problem in this story is a person stealing someones identity. This connects to the world because right now a big problem going on in the world is Identity Theft. This connects two each other because both they are stealing Identity's. That is what connects to the story through the world is identity being stolen. When I found out who did it I just couldn't believe it. If I were Lexi I would of done the same thing she did and I would of been so relieved when I would of found out who did it. This story taught me ...

Text To World - The Lighting Thief

A troublemaker as a superhero and defying monster there is not to many of those but Percy Jackson is. The lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan this a story about 13 year old boy who is a troublemaker and goes to a special school because of it. when he starts to get older than more and more he find out that he is son of the Greek god Poseidon. Percy having an abusive dad to a real world situation because there are parents that are abusive to their children like him.  There are people in life that abuse to their children and make them live in terribly.  Like Percy when his dad made him sleep in a room that he put spilled alcohol everywhere in it.  In the real world some parents also verbally abuse their children, like telling them they will never be successful or they are stupid. I began to think that someone can be abusive to their child. I feel really sorry for whoever has to go through it. I love the way on how percy sticks up for himself. He fights his bullies like ...

Text to World: Unwind

I am reading the book Unwind  by Neal Shusterman. This is book 1 of 6. The book Unwind is about these kids who have been chosen by their parents to be unwound but that's the last thing they want. They do crazy things to try and get out of it.Is it to late? Will they survive?       In the book " Unwind " they are trying to escape their fate. They have to hide from everyone because if they are caught it is the end for them. This same kind of thing happens in real life. For instance the fugitive slave act is related to this because if they are caught it means it's the end for them. They would hid places where they wouldn't be found and they would go undercover and go under disguise. Both of these times they were under someones power like the slaves have owners and the people in Unwound  have the police. " The Fugitive Slave Act forced people to return escaped slaves to their masters" (Newsela Fugitive Slave Act per. 1). This is the same t...

Text to World Bailey's Story

The book, Bailey's Story is by the author W. Bruce Cameron . This book is rated 4.4/5 with a 100% on people liking the book. It was published on May 3rd, 2016 and is one of the best known books. The reason why I chose this book is because I can easily relate to it. In this book I can relate to two things from my past, and present. At the beginning of the book,Bailey is an unexpected puppy to the boy's father. This part reminded me of how my pit bull was an unexpected puppy for some of our friends. I think that this compares really well because for the boy Bailey was not expected at all, and for me my dog was not expected to friends. In the book when Bailey the dog says he needs to be with his boy at all times, and that it was his main job that part reminded me of my dachshund and how she is always with me. Therefore I can easily relate to the book by W. Bruce Cameron, and my two responses seem to make sense. I recommend this book because if you have a dog and you read this ...
