Text To Self- 11 Birthdays
I am reading 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass. 11 Birthday's is a about a girl, Amanda, who keeps living her 11th birthday over and over again. Amanda, and Leo shared the same birthday every year since they were born but this is the first year they won't be sharing there party's together, since she over heard Leo talking bad about her with his guy friends. She stopped talking to him for a whole year, but she realizes Leo is going through the same thing she is. Now Leo and Amanda have to work thing out have there parties together to end there 11 birthday and make it to Saturday. When that doesn't seem to work they go to an old lady who knows everything and she tells them that she cast the enchantment for their great great grandparents, and now it is happening to them. They realize how to end the enchantment and they finally make it to Saturday.
Amanda reminds me of somebody I know because they both get mad for weeks and in Amanda's case a year, but after the long distance they both miss their friends and just like Amanda my friend is very forgiving and has a great sense of humor. This book relates to me and my sister because we get mad at each other but then later in the day we make up and realize there was no reason to be mad at each other, just like Amanda realized her and Leo could've made up in the very beginning when she heard him talking about her.
I began to think why would Leo say those things about Amanda even though they weren't true. Leo says that he said them because he was trying to look cool in front of his friends and being best friends with a girl wasn't very cool but if he liked Amanda more than his friends then why would he say those things, even though he did tell them the truth at the end, he shouldn't have said that in the first play? I was surprised when Leo and Amanda skipped school to spend the day with each other because they did stuff they normally wouldn't do, like Amanda doesn't like playing drums in front of anyone but she did it anyway, and Leo doesn't read his poetry in front of anyone but he read it at the senior center in front of people who were older and retired. It also surprised me when Angela(a character from the book) tells them that she cast an enchantment on their relatives and then tells them that the same thing was happening to them. This story teaches readers about friendship and how it is good to make friends.
