Text to Text -- Holes

My author is Louis Sachar. I read Holes. Holes is mainly about a boy who shoes fall on his head while walking home. He takes the shoes and tries to go home. He gets arrested for stealing the shoes from a homeless shelter. For his crime he goes to Camp Green Lake. They force him to dig holes to build character. Little do any of the boys know the are digging to find a treasure. Stanley catches on. His friend ran away and he went to go get him. After he finds him he discovers a giant thumb in the middle of the mountain. He also discover a very useful plant to help them survive. They make their way bake to the camp and dig to find the treasure, if there is any.

Holes has the same set up as hunger games. Hunger Games is about people living in a society that is overly controlled and forced them to fight to the the death. As holes is how he is told to dig holes in bad living conditions for something they don't deserve.  Also both stories have a character that does not deserve. They are forced to do different things. Hunger Games puts you in a situation and you have to kill each other and win.  Holes you are forced to dig holes. Another connection is the living conditions that the characters have. In holes the boy has a small home and it smells like feet and at Camp Green Lake the cots are smelly and stiff, the food does not taste well, and they do not receive enough water. Both stories have bad and good luck. Hunger games is how you have the luck of being born in the districts or being born in the capital. Holes is how the boy has bad luck with his family and they always can't be successful and how at the end the boy gets good luck and his family has good luck too. Finally both stories have the same type of problem.

These stories are both great books. Hunger Games is more unrealistic than holes. I feel like both of the stories are trying to teach me is that you should fight for what is right. Hunger Games made m think of population control because they were putting people out to fight to the death. I really like on how holes is formatted and written but Hunger Games is not my type of book that I read.
