I am reading the book,Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes. In this story,it has more meaning than behind any cover that can replace the flaws and and show people they're not alone. It started when the teacher,Mr.Ward handed out a poetry assignment that meant more to the characters than they think. And when a door closes,a new one opens but all the characters gotta do is write a poem and be they're at open mike Friday, but that's easy to say with characters like Porscha  Johnson, who want to change her name to not look back on her mothers scars.,and even Raul Ramirez who don't talk much but has a empty canvas called life but want to color it.But that's not all,all eighteen voices together at a stand will speak up for the lies, memories,or love they share together weather the world decides to listen or not on open Mike Friday.
How the changes and similarities i can see in the story that i can see in a connection is with the book "The Skin i'm in"by Sharon G. flake.Even through i a review on the book i can spot a connection between Maleeka and the character Porscha, because just like Maleeka who was also bullied and taunted by others, Porscha can connect to this because she was also taunted and bothered by others in her school and even outside the school. They both have other different struggles and other similarities.
What i think of the book is when i first saw it,i did't like that much but even still i slowly started to read like two pages sometime later and i thought it was okay but the more iv'e read i started to piece parts and parts together. An in fact when i first read it,i didn't noticed that most of the characters at first but it all started connecting and it turned out to be interesting because i never read a book that did something like that yet until now.It was also interesting how the characters can connect with not only characters the know in there book or even from other books ,but can actually connect with real people and i thought that was an important key part to the book.
