Abby Orpel-11 Birthdays

I'm reading 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass.  11 Birthdays is about a girl named Amanda,  who wakes up to be repeating her 11th birthday.  Amanda Ellerby lives a horrible 11th birthday until the day resets and she's celebrating her birthday over again.  She thinks it's all a joke in the very beginning, but then she's going back to school and doing all her work again.  A few days after reliving her birthday, she talks to ex-best friend Leo.  He told her that he has been reliving his birthday as well.  They then make up and become friends again.  Together they try to figure out what is happening that causes them to repeat the same day over and over.  Both kids try to help people, ditch school, talk to hypnotists, and go to a closed history museum.  Finally they meet someone named Angelina, who tells them what's going on.  After they redo another day and fix their plants from their 5th birthdays, they stop the enchantment and stop repeating their 11th birthday.

11 Birthdays is not like any other book I've ever read.  I could connect Amanda and Leo to The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.  In The Diary of a Wimpy Kid book Greg Heffley and Rowley Jefferson get into a little fight and they stop being friends.  In 11 Birthdays Amanda and Leo stop being friends after something Leo said at their 10th birthday party.  In both books the two sets of friends make up and become friends again.  I can also connect that Greg and Rowley get in trouble from time to time when they hang out with each other.  Amanda and Leo also got in trouble when they hung out together and ditched school.

After reading the book 11 Birthdays, I can say that it was extremely interesting.  I was surprised when Amanda finally revealed what Leo had said about not wanting to have a party with her at the their 10th birthdays.  I thought Leo was a nice and good kid and I knew that he probably didn't mean what he said.  It was even more surprising when Leo gave Amanda the note saying "Happy birthday for the fourth time" because Amanda realized that Leo was going through the same repeat birthday as she was.  I also wondered how old this Angelina person was.  She was at Leo and Amanda's hospital when they were born, she was their bus driver, and she was at the museum.  At the beginning of the book it said that people remember Angelina being old when they were children.  After reading this book, I have to say that it was a pretty decent book.  I would definitely recommend that you read this book.

           I am reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This book's genre is post-apocalyptic. This book is about a teen named Thomas who came to this mysterious place called the Glades. He does not know where and why he is there. Thomas does not also know anything about his life anymore; he is completely clueless. Now that Thomas has been at the Glades for a while, he now knows there is a large maze with bad things inside. Thomas is not allowed to go inside the maze. However, Thomas said he wants to participate in being a runner.            The character Thomas reminds me of one of my friends because she is very outgoing. Therefore, Thomas is outgoing because he wants to be a runner in the maze.  Thomas also reminds me of myself because I am always very cautious of my actions in various situations.           I am reading  The Maze Runner by James Dashner.  This story is about a boy named Thomas who was brainwashed and taken to a place called the Glades. Thomas was very curious on running in the maze inside the Glades. When he had the chance, Thomas went into the maze and became a runner. Thomas is starting to put together clues and messages he has found to why he went to the glades in the first place. He is now trying to decode a message that has been created, so he can stop the danger. Thomas and the other runners need to defeat the grievers, and what is happening to their world.           The scene where the ferocious creatures (grievers) come and are trying to break their way into the map room, reminds me of the book The Hunger Games .
