This week I read The Giver by Lois Lowry. I read about how, the main character, Jonas was getting nervous about the upcoming Ceremony of the Twelves, where he would be given his assignment/job. Before the ceremony, strange things happened to Jonas. He saw objects change in ways he could not understand or make sense of, that only he could see. Jonas also started having Stirrings. Stirrings were feelings of love and wanting, and he had to take pills. Jonas realized he loved a girl named Fiona, and he wanted to see her often.
This character reminds me of my brother. When something big is coming up, he always gets nervous, really nervous. This is also like myself, I too get nervous, but not as much as my brother. Like on Wednesday when I first started at this school, I was nervous because I had never been here before.
Some thoughts I had while reading my book were, this is really gross. Jonas was dreaming of not the most pleasant things. I didn't really understand why, he felt this way. Maybe because he couldn't feel love, that when the feeling came, it was like really extra. If I were Jonas right then, I would've been concerned for myself, because he was only 11.
